Full Fight: Rafa García vs Chase Gibson
marzo 26, 2019
Chase has two nicknames for his combat sports career. The one he’s probably best known for is “The Truth Hurts,” given to him by one of his close friends and instructors because it represents the continual transformation of him as a fighter, as well as a husband and new father. It also represents the double-edged sword of life and the truth that no one is above or below it. He is also known as “El Guero” (Spanish slang for “Whitey”) which he earned when he was growing up as one of the few white kids in his school. Chase got into a lot of trouble and they always referred to him and his twin brother as the “crazy white boys.”
Chase always had a passion and obsession with fighting. Unfortunately, he got into a lot of fights growing up and always seemed to be getting into trouble in the streets. He first got into MMA by watching his brother, who had completely turned his life around through the sport. Chase didn’t waste time easing into his new endeavor. Inspired by his sibling, he jumped right into cage fighting – which includes the rigors of training — with both feet. That decision completely changed his life. Not only did it help him get off drugs, he began surrounding himself with people in the sport who could be a positive influence in his life. The rest is history.
