The rivalry between Tito Ortiz and Alberto “El Patrón” continues to grow.
Yesterday the legendary mixed martial artist, Tito Ortiz (20-12-1), once again spoke about his next opponent, in what will be his debut as an athlete for Combate Americas.
In an interview on the Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, the American fighter spoke about his disagreements with Alberto. Ortiz said he respects the former WWE champion, but stated that the rivalry may continue to grow as the day of the fight approaches.
“I’m not into politics, I’m not a politics person, I’m not a republican, I’m not a democrat, I’m an American. I want the safety for my children’s future to be #1,” Ortiz mentioned. “On the opposite side, Alberto, he wants open borders, anybody can come to our country whenever they want and I don’t believe in that, so I think that’s where we kind of butt heads, and I think the story will lead up to the fight.”
Ortiz, with more than 20 years as a professional in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), made it clear that he is willing to die for his country and confessed that if he wasn’t a fighter, he would’ve probably been a great Marine.
“I respect the man, I really respect him, there’s no hate as I had against Chuck Liddell, but you never know, you start talking about people’s countries, you start talking about the future and the safety of our country here in America, I’m willing to die for it. If I wasn’t a fighter, I would’ve probably been a great Marine.”
Tito Ortiz also made reference to the famous fight where Alberto was knocked out cold by the legendary Mirko Cro Cop in 2003, and made it clear that he plans to do the same to him.
“I’ve watched it (The Cro Cop fight) about seven or eight times, he was out. Through my whole career of 22 years, I’ve never been knocked out unconscious, i’ve always been able to get up and stand up. For him being knocked out unconscious, I’m going to do the same to him, as I did to Chuck Liddell.”
The duel between the former UFC champion and WWE champion, where the place and date will be announced soon, is expected to be one of the top combat sports attractions of the year.
