“La Loba” arrives hungry in Fresno.
One of the rising stars of Combate Americas, the Mexican Lucero “La Loba” Acosta (1-0), will make her return to La Jaula this Friday, February 28, and will have her second professional battle in Combate Americas against Maritza Sánchez (0-1).
Acosta became known in her amateur debut, held in the previous clashes of the great event Combate Reinas, held in April 2019. The one born in Tijuana did not take long to surprise, as she made a big knockout at 0:51 of the second round against Nancy Nava.
Her great performance allowed her to receive a new opportunity, this time to make her professional debut in Tucson, Arizona, in front of fellow debutant Valerie Quintero. Acosta achieved the triumph by unanimous decision after three dominant rounds.
“It’s about studying the mind, the mind is to study it strong, to be prepared to take advantage of the opportunities for each fight,” Acosta said after her win. “A lot of good things are coming, I said, there are better things coming that haven’t happened to me so far.”
Acosta, 26, has a great motivation when it comes to entering the La Jaula, because she feels a great responsibility representing her homeland, Mexico, and all women, to show them that it is possible to achieve dreams.
“I hope many doors open for me, I want to keep fighting and continue, raise the flag of Mexico and tell all the women that we can,” said the Mexican. “I feel powerful when I raise the flag, it’s amazing, it’s unexplainable.”
Combate Americas ‘Mexico vs USA’ can be viewed live in Spanish, through Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT), TUDN USA (12 a.m. ET / 9 p.m PT), and for Mexico via Channel 5 (11 p.m.). It will also be available in English through AXS TV (10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT).
