Full Fight: Daniel Zellhuber vs Geanfranco Cortez
June 5, 2019
Daniel, who also sports a 3-0 record in Muay Thai, earned the nickname “Golden Boy” from the announcer in the wake of his most recent win, simply because he has a perfect record thus far in his MMA career. His journey began as a bullied 12 year-old boy. His parents enrolled him in boxing class so that he could learn how to defend himself, but he wasn’t a big fan of the “sweet science,” so he started searching for MMA gyms where he could also train ground fighting. That’s how he met his head coach Raúl Romero. Daniel is a fan of UFC fighters Tony Ferguson, Jon Jones, and Israel Adesanya, three very talented strikers.
While Daniel is committed to fighting in Latin America, he does dream of one day becoming UFC lightweight champion, a goal that helps him stay motivated inside the gym. Outside of MMA, Daniel is a college student and he gets tremendous support from his family. They help him pay for food and nutritional supplements so that he can reach his physical potential inside “La Jaula.” Daniel said his greatest fear is to become “just another human” and hopes to use MMA to make a name for himself and leave a lasting legacy. Not just for himself, but also for Mexican fighters, who don’t always get a fair shake in the mainstream media.
