David “DJ” Fuentes (13-11) will have the home state advantage as he faces Cee Jay “The Autobot” Hamilton (14-7) in “TS-1 Promotions presents: Combate Americas Hidalgo” in less than two weeks.

Fighting out of McAllen, Texas, DJ Fuentes is returning to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) after a 14 months break.  This will be his third fight inside “La Jaula,” since he joined the promotion in 2017.

“TS-1 Promotions presents: Combate Americas Hidalgo” will be held Friday, June 21, and will be broadcast live on Spanish television in the U.S. both on Univision (12 am ET / PT) and UDN (12 am ET / 9 pm PT), as well as in English in USA and Canada on DAZN (11 pm ET / 8 p.m. PT).

Fuentes is an experienced and veteran MMA fighter who trains at Ohana Academy in Texas, where he fights alongside of professional fighter Alexander Hernandez and his brother, professional boxer Randy Fuentes. With more than 10 years of competing as a professional, DJ has a record of 13 wins and 11 losses, winning 69% of the time via TKO (4) or submission (5).

DJ Fuentes‘ arrival to Combate Americas came in late 2017, after riding a 4-win-streak, with 2 of them by TKO. He entered “La Jaula” to face Joel Scott in Combate 19, whom he dominated easily, showing strong boxing, kickboxing and an impeccable wrestling base.

Fuentes had defeated Erik Perez by submission via arm bar around eight years ago, and in his second fight in Combate Americas,  he faced “El Goyito” once again. As the Combate Estrellas main event in 2018, Perez had a strong showing, winning via KO in the third round, giving Fuentes his first defeat in more than 4 years.

In this upcoming fight, DJ Fuentes doesn’t plan on letting “ring rust” affect him. He’s facing another MMA veteran, who is making his Combate Americas‘ debut. Cee Jay Hamilton is entering into “La Jaula” with a lot of momentum after a submission-win early this year. Hamilton has a 14-7 record with six finishes, including 4 knockouts and 2 submissions.

The fight between these two experienced batamweight fighters will be marked by the similarity of their styles. Fuentes, likes the standing battle, using front kicks to keep the distance and quick entries to connect with his fists; Hamilton, on the other hand, has an explosive style and an incredible athletic ability, which he uses to power-up strikes inside the pocket, and complements all that with very strong Muay Thai techniques.

Can DJ Fuentes vindicate himself after his last loss against “El Goyito”?  Or will Hamilton’s momentum propel him to a victory in his Combate Americas debut?
