Copa Combate 2018 – Alejandro El Gallito Flores
noviembre 26, 2018
Joey got the nickname “El Cazador” from his mom, who named him after his first coach, who was nicknamed “The Hunter,” because Joey was his protégé. Joey used to get into fights when he was 16 and even though he trained MMA, he actually wanted to become a professional skateboarder. His coach convinced him to enter a toughman competition and Joey won seven fights in two days, capturing the Oklahoma state title in the process. He was immediately hooked on fighting and has been competing ever since.
Outside of MMA, Joey works for American High Rise. He hangs off the sides of tall casinos and cleans the windows. He likes the adrenaline rush! His hobbies include riding his Harley, camping and fishing — pretty much anything that requires him to use his hands. He gets a lot of support from his family. He has a body full of tattoos but his favorite is on his right hand, a five-point king’s crown with the number 5:25 from Ephesians in the bible: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Joey is married with two boys and they come to his fights to cheer him on.
Joey recently signed with George Prajin under Tito Ortiz’s management company, so he’s now on the same roster as UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg and will be moving to California this summer to train with Jason Parillo at RVCA.
