The day has come and Tijuana is ready to host an unseen event, because the main Hispanic MMA organization, Combate Americas, will show the best action and emotion in an unforgettable night.
Argentinean fighter Marcelo Rojo (10-4) will make his Combate America's debut against a difficult opponent, such as Ivan Hernandez Flores (7-1-1), that being said, show is guaranteed. Rojo will fight in an unusual division (bantamweight), so it has been a huge sacrifice for him to be ready.
"This is a matter of sacrifice, if you want to get on top in this sport and you love what you do, you need to do the right things", Rojo explained. "I really like food, but my coach told me, 'you will fight at 135lbs, get on a diet'. I've been cutting and training, this weight-cut was hard".
On the other hand, Hernandez Flores comes from the first lost of his career against Mark Delarosa in Combate 10 (January). Monterrey native considers that this opportunity could be a new start.
"It was a fast experience, it was like a "flash" that life gave me, awakening", Flores stated. "Right now I have the chance to show that my last fight was only a mistake, I think we need to pull this out and keep going, we'll do the best we can so I can leave the cage with my hand raising".
Hernandez Flores looked in great shape after the weigh-ins, showing great muscular tone for a fight in 135lbs. Marcelo Rojo knows this, that's why he will do a dynamic fight, by moving around the cage.
"We already know him (Hernandez Flores), he's big and he's going to try to run over me", Rojo analyzed. "This is going to be a nice fight, I'm going to move, I know I have the advantage. I know my weaknesses and strengths, I'll work on that. Tomorrow, we'll see it in the cage".
In addition, the Monterrey native also showed some respect to his rival, nevertheless, he's convinced of his capabilities and strengths for getting the "W".
"I have nothing to say about my opponent", Flores confessed. "I know he's a warrior, he always goes forward, I respect him as a fighter and athlete. But I'm focusing in me, my specialties, doing my fight and keeping my punches strong. I want to have the fight in my favor and I'll go forward".
Combate 12 will be held next March, and broadcasted by Azteca America in the United States and ESPN Deportes in Latin-America (10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT).
